Aaron Horne is a licensed marriage and family therapist (CA#LMFT129693). He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services and a Masters in Counseling Psychology. Aaron began his career as a Student Services Advisor at a vocational school, working with young adults and their families as they adjusted to life while pursuing post-secondary education. Aaron spent his graduate school internship counseling adults struggling with severe mental illness. He also works as a therapist in a high school setting with adolescents and their families. He focuses on helping them develop the social-emotional skills necessary for healthy functioning in a complicated and difficult world.
Aaron strongly believes that clients are the experts in their own lives and should be treated as such. He feels that deeper awareness and understanding of one’s thoughts, feelings, and actions – and how those actions impact those in their environment – empowers them to make appropriate adjustments that support optimal mental health, as well as an overall healthier living. He believes one’s own talents, strengths, and support systems – such as family, friends, community associations – can evoke healthy change in their life. Aaron works collaboratively with his clients to put these philosophies to use and integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy into his practice. Aaron is also TF-CBT certified (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy) for children and adults. Aaron has an interest in working with individuals of all ethnicities, faiths, cultural/belief systems, genders, and sexual orientations.
