Michael Wright is a Bay Area/Oakland native and has dedicated a substantial part of his life to working with and supporting underserved and marginalized communities. He also currently serves as a part-time Academic College Counselor within the Peralta Community College District.

Michael believes practicing therapy is sacred and a privilege. His approach to therapy is wholistic as well as spiritual, using ancient, indigenous, and contemporary practices that support with conceptualizing a person from both a micro and macro perspective. Michael also uses aspects of the biopsychosocial model to develop a broader understanding of symptoms and root causes. Based on years of study and travel, it is his belief that it is important for people to develop self-awareness and awareness of their surrounding environments, as well as critical consciousness, self-love, knowledge of self, and a comprehensive understanding of their intrinsic value. Michael uses an array of theoretical modalities, including optimal psychology, narrative therapy, liberation psychology, motivational interviewing, systems therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy to name a few.
